It may surprise you to know that I have been an educator for thirty seven years. I’ve taught for 16 years as an elementary school teacher as well as a middle/high school math teacher. Every one of those years has been rewarding for me both professionally and personally.

My educational background includes a B.A in elementary Education, Cum Laude and an M. S. Degree in Elementary Education. As a result of being one of two selected to participate in a cooperative doctoral associate program sponsored by OCPS and UCF, I have also received an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, being the first African-American woman to receive a doctoral degree from the University of Central Florida.

There have been many experiences during my career which have been especially rewarding. I have been nominated for such honors as Educator of the Year and Young Educator of the Year by Phi Delta Kappa and recognized as Associate Master Teacher for the 1985-86 school year. I have also been the recipient of the Orange County Association of Educational Media’s Distinguished Administrator Award and the Sarah Garnett Intermediate School, Teacher of the Year Award. I have written such publications as Student’s Perceptions of Corporal Punishment on Modifying Behavior and School Attitude and Orange County Adopts Middle Schools: a Study of Student Reactions.

As gratifying as these experiences have been, my greatest rewards have resulted from providing the leadership which enables children to grow academically, emotionally and physically in a nurturing and safe environment with outstanding professionals.
